We will only discuss structural bonding here, which involves the use of high-performance glues and adhesives (high strength, cohesion, resistance to heat and other stresses and high mechanical performance) to obtain durable assemblies whose strength is comparable to that of the constituent materials (metals, plastics, wood, glass...), and semi-structural bonding (defined as giving shear strengths of 4 to 10 MPa and average physico-chemical performance).
