The subcontractor's duty to advise consists in using his skills to assess the situation and give an opinion, so as to guide the client in his choices to achieve a given result.

It is intimately linked to professional status, providing the less competent with advice from the more competent. In technical fields, the complexity of the services to be provided is likely to reinforce this obligation to advise. This is the case, for example, in specialty subcontracting, where the client does not necessarily have the necessary equipment or skills.
