Bioplastics
Biodegradable and/or bio-sourced plastics.
Biopolymers (polymers of renewable or bio-sourced origin)
According to the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), biopolymers are polymers derived from renewable resources.
Biodegradable polymers
According to standard NF EN 13432: 2000, biodegradable polymers are polymers whose degradation (in the presence of oxygen or not) generates carbon dioxide, water, mineral salts (methane in the absence of oxygen) and the appearance of a new biomass that is non-toxic for the environment.
