Using functional analysis to create a new product: preliminary work and implementation stages

In the creation phase :

• make the group forget about existing solutions;

• approach all functions with an open mind. Every member of the group becomes an ignoramus, in the noble sense of the word;

• approach functions from a viewpoint that is as far removed as possible from existing solutions;

• list all possible solutions without judging;

• then go into more and more detail, to finally find the solution that meets all the assessment criteria.
