2. Assessing the environmental impact of AC machines
This section briefly presents the LCA tool applied to AC machines. The overall ecobalance resulting from an LCA approach applied to the "medium power" range induction motor will be presented according to its type of service: continuous or intermittent. The reference motor considered in this study is assumed to be supplied directly from a balanced three-phase network. This motor, which has an aluminum rotor cage, is characterized by the following nominal values: 10 kW; 400 V; 50 Hz; 21 A; 1,400 rpm; cos j = 0.81.
