2. REZEDA process description
The REZEDA process (REcyclage du Zinc par Électrolyse des Déchets d'Aciérie - recycling zinc by electrolysis of steelworks waste) is used to extract metals from waste. It is particularly suitable for waste containing significant levels of zinc (over 10% by mass). The REZEDA process uses the principles of extractive hydrometallurgy, more specifically in an alkaline medium.
The by-products likely to be recovered by this process are essentially the following:
EAF and arc furnace dusts recovered after flue gas treatment, with zinc contents ranging from 20 to 35%. The French deposit is around 100,000 tonnes per year.
