CAD: from geometrical to functional modelling

Characteristic or feature

Model with technological and other additions to geometry. A through-hole, for example, is associated with the "through object" behavior.

Splines or NURBS

Most commonly used CAD surface representation models (see [H 3 750]).

Concurrent engineering

Trades working together.

Digital mock-up (DMU)

Model assumed to contain all the product's virtual information.

Digital twin

Extension of the digital model to monitor changes in one or more physical product families in real time (or close to real time), in particular by modifying...
