From now on, all management system standards—regardless of the nature of the “object being managed”—will have the same structure and include identical generic definitions.

Like other management system standards, ISO 14001:2026 is based on the PDCA concept. This was also the case in previous versions, which referred to the “Deming Wheel”:

• P (Planning): planning (Article 6);

• D (Do): support (Article 7) and implementation (Article 8);

• C (Check): performance evaluation (Article 9);

• A (Act): improvement (Article 10).
