ISO 9000 quality standards - Version 2000

The current collection of the ISO 9000 family is built around some twenty normative texts.

A mapping of these standards (figure 2) classifies them into the following four categories:

• roadmaps", with ISO 8402 on terminology and ISO 9000-1 on quality concepts;

• quality management recommendations with the ISO 9004 series of standards;

• quality assurance models, ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and ISO 9003, as a basis for third-party certification;

• ISO 1000X series tool standards.
