6. Identifying the distribution model
A distribution is a relationship between the values of a character and their number or frequency.
It is represented graphically by a distribution histogram, a diagram with contiguous rectangular bars whose areas are proportional to frequencies (figure
14
).
If you want to check the consistency of a hypothesis, for example the hypothesis that a normal distribution (Laplace-Gauss distribution) is obeyed, you need to test the normality of the data collected. This can be done using normality tests such as the Kolmogorov-Smirnov or chi-square tests.
