2. Current legislation and regulations
Occupational health and safety legislation and regulations derive mainly from the French Labor Code and its implementing regulations.
Other sources should also be mentioned:
the Social Security Code, in view of the role entrusted to the Regional Health Insurance Funds (CRAM) in occupational risk prevention;
legislation governing facilities classified for environmental protection;
legislation governing establishments open to the public.
The Labour Code as it stands today is the result of successive contributions.
