Legacy architecture

A set of existing, often outdated, heterogeneous, and business-critical IT systems whose evolution is constrained by technical, organizational, or regulatory dependencies.

Decision framing

A process aimed at explicitly defining the scope, objectives, success criteria, and business rules prior to technical implementation. It directly determines the relevance of the final deliverable.

Technical debt

An accumulation of technical compromises made to accelerate development, which may result in future costs related to maintenance, reliability, or system evolution.

Decision bottleneck
