Definition
Slings are flexible, removable equipment made from cables, chains, synthetic fiber straps, etc., and components such as rings, shackles, thimbles, generally fitted with accessories (hooks), which hold a load on the hook of a lifting device.
Like all load-holding equipment, slings are a very important part of any lifting operation. In fact, without their use, many lifting devices would be unable to perform their function.
