The cost of developing a product is easy to control. On the other hand, its operating cost, i.e. the value added between the time it is packaged and the time it reaches the customer, is much more difficult to control. This cost includes packaging, handling, storage and transport. Handling and storage are clearly the most difficult parts of these operating costs to grasp, and as soon as we are concerned with the minimum cost price of a product, these are the key items that must be attacked and, if possible, eliminated....
