3. Logistics providers
In France, logistics service providers employ over 126,000 people in companies with an average workforce of around 40.
The warehouseman stores goods in a warehouse on behalf of others: industrialists, retailers, farmers, craftsmen, public authorities, etc.
It can also offer its customers services such as stock management, inventories, order preparation, packaging, labeling, etc.
Sometimes, at the customer's request, the logistician also carries out end-of-line industrial operations in the warehouse (known as "co-manufacturing"), most often to customize the product for the local market or the end customer (known as "delayed differentiation").
