To assess the stakes, we need to correctly define the overall cost of maintenance.
It is the sum of several components:
direct maintenance costs (internal and external labor + consumption and purchase of parts) ;
indirect cost or cost of equipment unavailability ;
cost of non-quality attributable to maintenance ;
inventory carrying costs.
