1.1.1 pH meter components
The pH meter comprises a probe with two electrodes, one a standard electrode with a constant, known potential (known as the "reference electrode"), the other a variable potential electrode (a function of pH, known as the "glass electrode").
Its operation is based on the relationship that exists between the concentration of H3O+ ions and the electrochemical potential difference that is established in the pH meter once immersed in the solution under study.
