Tenerife is a small island paradise in the Canary archipelago. On Sunday March 27, 1977, it was the scene of the deadliest air accident in history, when two Boeing 747s collided on the main runway of Los Rodeos airport.
Five hundred and eighty-three people were killed, and only sixty-four survived.
