Traceability is based on two pillars: product identification and associated data.

Product identification, all the way along the chain, from parts and raw materials to distribution, use and after-sales (and sometimes end-of-life dismantling).
Each item is identified in two ways:
a "manufacturer" reference, which identifies its type and which must evolve when its definition changes,
a serial or batch number, which identifies...
