1. Transfer in minimum time
This section deals with minimum-time transfer, taking eclipses into account.
We place ourselves in a geocentric inertial frame of reference (OXYZ) called ECI (Earth Centered Inertial) whose X and Z axes point respectively to the vernal point V and the North Pole. The Sun's relative motion around the Earth is a circular orbit in the ecliptic plane, with an inclination (or obliquity) of is = 23.45° to the equator, intersecting along OX (figure 1).
