Ligne triple; triple line
Line of intersection between three interfaces, in the context of this article this is the intersection between the solid/liquid, solid/vapor and liquid/vapor interfaces.
Anchoring; wetting
Phenomenon corresponding to the formation of a solid/liquid interface coupled with the suppression of the solid/vapor interface by translation of the triple line on the solid surface; the spreading of a liquid on a solid surface is an example of wetting.
Lyophobe; lyophobic
Said of a solid with a low affinity for a surrounding liquid, a solid is considered lyophobic if, in the presence of a triple line, the contact angle is greater than 90˚.
