1. Background on induction heating and experimental protocol

1.1 Induction heating principle

The principle of induction heating is based on the fact that a conductive material through which an electric current flows (e.g. a solenoid) is the seat of a magnetic field. If this magnetic field can be varied (working with alternating current, for example) and swept over a second current-carrying material in a closed loop, it will be possible to measure a potential difference across the latter. The current thus created is called "induced current or eddy current" (see figure 1 ). The current thus created always opposes the one that gave rise to it.
