5. Conclusion
The global thermal energy storage market is projected to grow
by ∼ 12.5% annually by 2030, reaching an estimated value of over 65 billion €,
driven by decarbonisation targets set for 2050. Solutions based on
LiOH, owing to its high energy density and excellent cycling stability,
offer a promising pathway to enhance renewable energy integration
and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, significantly lowering CO
2
emissions.
In this context, strengthening a circular economy approach is
essential : recovering Lithium-based compounds after use, particularly
from spent electrochemical batteries, helps ease pressure on natural
resources while enabling the development of more robust and durable
thermal batteries and accumulators.
