5. Briefs: what's the point and what's the value of monitoring?
Master's theses are of less scientific interest than dissertations. But depending on the field and the institution, they can contain rich and interesting case studies and methodologies. And they can help identify promising young students.
For this reason, some schools and universities report and/or put online all – or the best – dissertations of their students.
In France, for example, they can be found on the CNRS website DUMAS, and elsewhere, at the University of Amsterdam, at universities scandinaves, and at the University of Berlin.
