The competitiveness of new technologies is improving as experience is gained and cumulative production increases, and it is reasonable to assume that no further subsidies will be needed by 2020. An increasing number of scenarios envisage 100% renewable electricity production, such as the one proposed for 2050 in Germany by the SRU (Advisory Council on the Environment)
