Innovative engineers need to be aware of the key factors contributing to their company's innovation performance, and have a clear vision of the company's innovation ecosystem. This holistic understanding of innovation must compensate for the lack of concertation between company functions (R&D, strategic marketing, product planning, development projects, purchasing, human resources, etc.) in monitoring and participating in innovation strategy.
