3. Choosing your tools
First and foremost, it's important to establish "informational hygiene" and take a few basic precautions. It wouldn't occur to you to go hiking on a hunting day. You wouldn't leave your new car with the keys in it. The same applies here. You don't walk around with a target on your back.
Choosing the right survey and research tools is essential. Knowing the publisher, the data in transit, and where the data is hosted, all play their part. Indeed, depending on the nature of the tool and its uses, data accessibility will be more or less guaranteed, as will its durability.
With the advent of platforms and the cloud, it's now possible to access your investigation files from anywhere in the world, in a secure space, but unfortunately trust comes at the expense of data hosting and circulation. The golden rule – backup, backup, backup – remains!...
