Employee inventions: knowing how to classify the invention

In short, an employee who makes an invention on assignment does so in pursuance of his or her employment contract, or at the express request of his or her employer. For this reason, these inventions "belong" to the employer, who is free to decide whether to disclose them, keep them secret or apply for a patent.
