4. Manage the transformation of the innovative object and all associated technical aspects (level 3)
This is the designers' field of action. The object is the innovative element created by the company. It can be a product, a service, a process or any other form of object. At this level, we find technical design activities (e.g.: finite element design in mechanics, formulation engineering in chemistry...).
Two characteristics mark the evolution of the innovative object in relation to traditional design:
The object is supported by knowledge, but it can also take the form of a concept, i.e. something we can describe perfectly, but know nothing about. For example, "a folding car" is a concept. But it's important to understand and anticipate the fact that many of the reticence encountered by innovation managers stems from the fact that certain "objects of study" are vague, unclear and, above all, unprovable.
