Social networks have become a central phenomenon, and much thought has been given to their existence and role.
A social network can be defined as "a set of social units and the relationships they maintain with one another [...]. These social units may be individuals, informal groups of individuals or more formal organizations, such as associations, companies or even countries" (P. Mercklé, La Sociologie des réseaux sociaux , 2011).
