6. Mapping a theme in a scientific field
In the previous steps, we discovered how to create a cartography. Here's an example of how to map a scientific field.
You already know that with Infomous it's possible to use RSS feeds from other websites to create customized maps. In this example, we're going to use some RSS feeds from PubMed, a reference in the biological field, to highlight the latest topics on asthma.
From PubMed.com, we search for "Asthma". There are two areas of interest on the results page:
the sorting function (on the left of the page). To get an overall idea of the topics covered, we then sort by highlighting only scientific "meta-analyses" and "reviews";
the RSS tab (just below the search field). By clicking on this tab, we choose to create a feed on 20 publications, then retrieve...
