Web scraping
Web scraping, sometimes called Harvesting, is a technique for extracting content, via a script or program, with the aim of transforming it so that it can be used in another context. Web scraping can be used to retrieve data and metadata. Generally speaking, web scraping describes a means of extracting content from a website, via another website or a program. This enables the content of a page or website to be retrieved for reuse. In the context of PFM, this technique is used to retrieve customer data from their bank's portal and import it into another site (that of another bank or a third-party service provider). Without the consent of the target site, this technique may be considered illegal.
