1. Common impregnation technologies for technical textiles

Impregnation technologies for technical textiles refer to all processes used to introduce a chemical substance, polymer, resin, or any other functional agent into the structure of a textile (fibers, yarns, fabrics, or nonwovens) in order to modify or improve its properties. These impregnation techniques are widely used to impart specific technical performance characteristics to technical textiles: waterproofing, mechanical strength, flame retardancy, antibacterial properties, insulation, etc.

A distinction can be made between surface impregnation methods—such as coating, spraying, or powder coating—and deep impregnation methods, which penetrate more deeply through processes like dipping or pad-dry, for example, and use solvent-based or aqueous liquids
