The hybrid perovskite absorbs sunlight and generates excitons and free charges. These must be collected and transported to produce the photocurrent. This collection and transfer of charges is achieved by materials whose optical and electronic properties must be perfectly matched and complementary to those of the hybrid perovskite.
These electrodes must be transparent and conduct electricity well. Typically, cells are made on glass substrates coated with a layer of transparent, conductive oxide. The oxide layer must have a transmittance greater than 80% and a conductivity greater than 10
