2. Hybrid perovskites as light absorbers in solar cells
The term "perovskite" originally referred to the mineral CaTiO3 (calcium titanate), which was first described in 1839 by the German mineralogist Gustav Rose and named after the Russian mineralogist Lev Alexeyevich Perovski. Since then, it has been used to designate the corresponding crystal structure with the general formula ABC3 . At the end of the 19th century, new perovskites were synthesized with the formula ABX3 with X a halide, Cl–, Br– or I–, A being Cs+ and B Pb2+. Their crystal structure was only solved in 1957 by Christian Moller
