3. Conclusion
Pollution caused by human activities is nowadays manifold and often unresolved. The evolution of research towards a global and interdisciplinary approach can be at the origin of the development of sustainable, inventive and effective remediation techniques. The synergy between green chemistry and plant ecology presented in this article is an illustrative example of the beneficial blending of knowledge.
The use of phytoextraction knowledge becomes an opportunity for the synthetic chemist, enabling him to develop catalytic processes for the degradation of highly toxic biocides, while contributing to the depollution of aquatic basins contaminated by heavy metals.
