With PDF, Adobe has capitalized on printing technologies to provide a document format that offers uncompromising quality, plus interactive features. PDF thus offers a transition path from printable documents to digital documents intended for "connected" reading (via the Web and Internet) or "disconnected" reading (on CD-Rom).
PDF's graphics model is slightly different from PostScript's, designed for printing. On the other hand, it is closer to the new SVG
