3. Multiplexing functions
As a reminder, there are two levels of multiplexing:
low-speed multiplexing, up to 2 Mbit/s (or 1.5 for the US network), including channel multiplexing at 64 kbit/s or n × 64 kbit/s in 2 or 1.5 Mbit/s ducts;
high-speed multiplexing from 2 Mbit/s. This level is further broken down into plesiochronous and synchronous multiplexing.
