MPTCP (Multipath TCP) was first proposed in 1995 to meet the requirements of a context where a terminal has the ability to connect to the network via several interfaces. In particular, the MPTCP protocol meets the need to ensure session continuity (transparently for the user) in the event of terminal mobility. Other similar proposals were subsequently documented (e.g. TCP-MH) but were not adopted for various reasons.
