6. SC-FDMA principle

As pointed out in § 3.5 , transmission on a large number of subcarriers increases PAPR and reduces energy efficiency in the transmitter. OFDM is therefore unsuitable for transmission by a battery-powered portable terminal. As in the case of LTE, a variant of OFDM called DFTS-OFDM (Direct Fourier Transform Spread) or SC-FDMA (Single Carrier FDMA) can be used....
