5. Administration and security
The MAC and PHY layer administration functions are located on a different plane from the usual network plane. The control plane encompasses the PHY and MAC layer administration functions. Figure 16 shows a representation of the control plane.
Administration functions include power management, synchronization, authentication, association, re-association and more.
