The table 1 summarizes the changes to the protocol that we have seen in this and the previous dossier. , as well as the most recent RFC describing each of these developments in relation to the original standard, RFC 793 [15] . Ideally, a modern, "perfect" implementation of TCP should include all these features. As for the congestion control version, it's reasonable to assume that such an implementation would have to support both NewReno and SACK-based fast recovery (§ 4.1), as it might have to cope with older TCPs that don't produce selective acknowledgment (or even faulty SACK implementations, as exist today [1] ).
