The topics covered in this dossier have been the subject of several IETF working groups, now inactive. These include the :

• the pilc (Performance Implications of Link Characteristics) group, which focuses on the impact of – link layer technologies and – link characteristics in general on TCP performance. The RFCs produced by this group are of an informative nature, and relate in particular to wireless networks and access networks whose links present asymmetry between transmission and reception paths, in terms of transmission capacity or losses for example. Among the documents produced by this group, particular mention may be made of :
