5. Diameter in third-generation cellular networks

To manage AAA aspects in third-generation UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) cellular networks or CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) [TE 7 366] , it would seem worthwhile integrating a Diameter infrastructure with the appropriate extensions, in order to homogenize the management of AAA functions in networks. The Diameter solution is being introduced in existing network technologies as a replacement for RADIUS, and is likely to be implemented in all future technologies (see § 6
