At the outset, a hypervisor is simply a server with one or more processors capable of hardware virtualization, and which must meet certain criteria.
So, before you go ahead with your purchase, you need to make sure that your processors do indeed offer this service. You also need to bear in mind that each machine will consume resources, and plan accordingly:
the more cores and threads the processor has, the better for load balancing. Nowadays, it's common to find processors with 12 or 16 cores for 2 threads, which will be visible as virtual CPUs to the hypervisor (12 cores × 2 threads = 24 vCPUs per physical processor). Of course, you also need to think about pure computing power... depending...
