Evolution of the wireless network standard: IEEE 802.11

This amendment was published at the end of 1999. It proposes an extension to one of the physical layers defined in the IEEE 802.11-1999 standard in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. The extension, called HR/DSSS (High Rate Direct Spread Sequence Spectrum), is defined for the DSSS physical layer proposed in 802.11-1999. This extension uses a coding scheme that results in physical data rates of 5.5 and 11 Mbit/s. This physical layer uses the same physical preamble and header.
