The natural curiosity engendered by an unusual phenomenon such as the appearance of a forest of antennas in the vicinity of a radio amateur's home, prompts many questions about the whys and wherefores of this hobby. The public often has little idea that it is possible to contact the whole world with modest means, and the discovery of these possibilities is always met with great astonishment. Known for their technical skills, amateur radio operators are often called upon by their neighbors to give advice on technical problems, even when they are not related to electronics.
