This article describes in detail the systems in the DAB family, in the initial Eureka-147 version and the new DAB+ version, as well as the "multimedia" DMB Radio version.

In Europe, DAB+ is well established, particularly in the UK, Norway, Denmark and Switzerland, with comprehensive coverage and a wider choice of programs than FM radio. These countries are planning to discontinue FM broadcasting. Germany and the Netherlands are in the deployment phase, with DAB+ stations from both public and commercial broadcasters. Other countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Poland and Sweden) are in the DAB+ start-up phase.

Another positive sign confirming the progressive development of DAB/DAB+ digital radio, is the widespread offer of DAB+ car radios in cars, standard or optional, from 16 European and Asian manufacturers, at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
