2. Container formats

A container format is an "envelope" used to encapsulate the data resulting, for example, from encoding an image in JPEG 2000. It is designed either to store (as in the case of a computer file format), or to transport this data.

2.1 Storage

Storage container formats include file formats defined in various parts of the JPEG 2000 standard, as well as those specified in other areas, such as MXF and IMF.
