1. Receiver performance requirements
The performance required of a listening receiver is very similar to that of an interception receiver as described in [TE 6 891]. The same superheterodyne structure and channelization filters are often used. However, there are substantial differences in some performance requirements, which are detailed below.

Synthesizer speed and spectral purity
Speed is not of prime importance for a listening receiver. The spectral purity of the synthesizer is generally improved, as the response time of the synthesizer's phase loop can be lengthened and its bandwidth reduced.
